Theme

Theme is the fifth element of fiction that is as important as the plot and characters. It refers to the idea or concept that the story is about. Theme can be universal in nature that is why a story can be understood beyond barriers of race, location and time. Common themes are love (erotic, filial, brotherly, patriotic, etc.), quest (self, success, peace, etc.), and competition.
