TAH stands for Total Abdominal Hysterectomy. In this surgery, the surgeon will first do a transverse incision under the umbilicus up to just above the pubic symphysis. First you'll pass the first knife followed by the second knife then pass the cautery. Next, you will anticipate to pass hysterectomy clamps either the Heaney-Ballantine clamps or the Zeppelin hysterectomy clamps. Prepare to pass Mayo scissors and Kelley clamps as well as prepare syringes for saline washing.
