The answer is sporophyte. The image resembles a pteridophyte plants (the ferns). The sporophyte phase, which is diploid, in pteridophyte's life cycle, is the most conspicuous. The gametophyte phase, also known as the prothalum, is much smaller and is usually kidney- or heart- shaped.
