The Medieval era was dominated by religious thought and doctrine, and theater was no exception to that. Medieval plays were based mainly on stories from the bible. This includes the lives of saints and figures in the bible as well. Through what is known as mystery plays, which were plays of biblical stories accompanied by song. Common stories that are played include Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and the last judgement.
