Those values of x , at which the equation equals zero are know as roots or zeros.

for example

2x+3 = 5

Now this is a equation

we solve for the value of x

2x+3 -3 = 5-3

2x= 2

x=1

Now this x=1 , is a zero of the equation

So

These values are also called as zeros, because they are the values at which the equation equals zero.
