Why did Europeans begin to embark on voyages of discovery and expansion at the end of the fifteenth century

Many Europeans wanted to explore lives outside of Europe because of contact with non-European civilizations, books such as the travels of John Mandeville, and many people wanted to trade with outside civilizations. Religious zeal was also a motive for exploration
