The WBCs(neutrophils) are responsible for fighting infections. If a person has an infection the white blood cells are bound to rise. The normal range for WBCs is (3.800-11000mm3 for adults and for children, a normal range is 5000-10,000 mm3). This means that the WBCs of the patient are within the normal range.
