Jeffrey walked 1/3 mile on Monday and jogged 3/4 mile on Tuesday. How far did he walk and jog on Monday and Tuesday combined? Use the tiles to complete the fraction strip model to show how you found your answer the fractions may be used more than once or not at all

We will use the formula = a/b*b/c
1/3*3/4
Than take the L.C.M. Of 3 & 4 = 12
4*9/12
= 36/12 = 3 or 36/12

The distance Jeffery walked on Monday =
(1)/(3) miles

The distance Jeffery jogged on Tuesday =
(3)/(4) miles

So together they become

(1)/(3) + (3)/(4)

Now look at the attached figure to find how we can add these fractions using the strip model

Jeffrey walked 1/3 mile on Monday and jogged 3/4 mile on Tuesday. How far did he walk-example-1
