When criticizing a text, the reader turns into an active agent of collective creation and public interpretation, due reading is a social activity.

Readers are capable to do critique and evaluate a text provided that they've read other texts previously, then intertextuality comes to play, thus the intellectual process of comparing previous texts to the current one determines the critique.

And so they're able to examine and explain their position on a particular idea from such texts.
