The difficulties that could hinder the return to a peacetime economy is

Change in industrial America whereby workers found their open live time changing.Fewer workers were able to produce goods and provide more services. By 1956 majority of workers held a white collar job such as teaching. Some firms granted a guaranteed annual wages among other benefits . with such a change in labor militancy was undermined and some class distinction began to fade.

Farmer on the other hand founded a tough time as they found difficulties to compete and more and more farmers left farming.
