I have a bag of oranges. the first day, i ate one-third of them. the next day i ate half of the remaining oranges. the next day i opened the bag to find that i only had 2 left. how many were in the bag when i bought it?

you had 8 oranges and you can easily solve this by finding a common denominator and adding it to the 2 that you had left.
