The answer is spurious correlation

Examples of spurious correlation:
In the past, united states correlate high consumption of soybean with breast cancer (because people who develop breast cancer tend to eat more soy produtcs)
But this assumption fails to include genetic factors. People in Asian countries eat more soy products way more than western people, but the number of cancer case in Asian countries are significantly less.
