The Mayan People inhabited the Yucatan peninsula which is washed by the waters of the Pacific ocean. The Maya had a city-state. At the head of each city stood the ruler. The Noble people of the Maya lived in the center of the city in stone palaces, peasants and artisans lived on the outskirts in huts with reed roofs and clay floors.
