Frederick Douglass gave a speech on the Fourth of July, 1852. America celebrated its freedom, as it does every Independence Day. He was U.S most famous anti-slavery activist and fugitive slave. In this speech, he saw no ground to celebrate because slavery stretched everywhere, exposing the hollowness of America’s freedom values.
