The standard against infection that assumes that all blood and body fluids are infectious and requires all emergency workers to practice a strict form of infection control is called standard precautions. These precautions are in place to protect everyone involved and they have workers maintain good hand hygiene by washing them. They also have workers were protective equipment, handle waste carefully, maintain a clean working area and handle sharp objects carefully. As far as injections are concerned, the worker must use a new needle or syringe for every patient and practice safe injection methods.
