- 3x - y = 8
7x + y = -12

x = -1

-3(-1) - y = 8
3 - y = 8
- y = 5
y = -5

- 3(-1) - (-5) = 8 --> 3 + 5 = 8 <-- Correct
7(-1) + (-5) = -12 --> -7 -5 = -12 <-- Correct

Answer:
x = -1
y = -5
