Ribosomes produce essential proteins needed to maintain the metabolism of the cells. Ribosomes are referred to as the protein builders or the protein synthesizers and that's why they are important. Bacteria must have ribosomes because they produce essential proteins neccessary for the cell to survive. Without them bacteria would not be able t survive.
