Theodore Roosevelt felt that an effective legislation should be proposed, one that prevents accidents in the industrial field, prevents diseases contracted through occupation, fought overwork and fought unemployment. He felt that the minimum standards of health and safety should be raised and living wages should be provided.

Theodore Roosevelt said that the corporations that are driven only by greed and have little to no consideration for the public or the public goods had to be regulated and laws need to be made in order for the government to protect its people. The companies that are mindful of the public good and follow the law should protected and encouraged by those same laws.
