How does shirley jackson trivialize the grave practice of the community's traditional stoning, and what message might jackson be trying to convey to the reader through the treatment of the characters' behavior? how do you feel about this?

Jackson is trying to convey the how the senseless traditions and obligations that are put up a certain herd mentality make the people not speak up their opinions. Jackson showed this through her characters by making them display certain calmness, not being expressive and being not phased by the things happening around them.
