New technology in cotton manufacturing had a lot of benefits for the people of the States back then, other than slaves. New technology for cotton farming and manufacturing meant more work to do for the slaves, but more work done for the white colonists. It brought on a higher demand for slaves, and a great deal of argument over slavery.
