The Protestant Revolution or Reformation was a 16th-century philosophical and theological movement designed to bring into being important and needed reforms to the Roman Catholic Church. The end result was a turbulent period of social, religious, and political unrest which ended the Catholic Church's dominion over Europe and introduced many new branches of Christianity into the world.
