A job is often a short-term thing for money. However, a profession iis a vocation based on specialized educational training. Aka college. This means that if you want to work at Mcdonalds, you do not have to go to college to learn how to flip some burgers. However, if you want to be a doctor, you have to go to college to learn about the body and other thing.
