juanita lifts a round box and a square box to a self. the gravitational potential energy(gpe) for the round box increases by 50 GPE for the square box increases by 100 j. on which box did juanita do more work. why?

-- When you lift something, it get more gravitational potential energy.

-- Energy has to come from somewhere. The new gravitational potential energy comes from the work YOU DID to lift it.

-- If the load is heavier, then YOU DO more work to lift it, and it gains more GPE.

-- If the load is lighter, then YOU DO less work to lift it, and it gains less GPE.

Juanita does more work on the square box that she does on the round box. We know this because once they're both on the self, the square box has more GPE. The ONLY place it could have come from was Juanita's muscles.

Sadly, as soon as they're both up there, the round box rolls off the self and back down to the floor, and Juanita has to do the smaller amount of work all over again.
