This process is known as cloning.

In this case scientist used the method of nuclear transfer to clone the sheep. It is a form of cloning where the DNA is removed from an oocyte (egg cell) and the nucleus which contains the DNA to be cloned is injected. In 1996. In Scotland scientist of the Roslin¬ Institute in Edinburgh were the first who cloned the mammal. They transplanted a nucleus from a mammary gland cell of a sheep into the enucleated egg cell. The sheep Dolly was born as cloned animal.
