What would happen to the amount of oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere if half the trees on Earth were cut down? Why?

the ammount of oxygen in earths atmosphere would decrease a lot because trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen using the process of photosynthesis. Trees produce roughly one third of the oxygen in our atmosphere.
