Cells are smaller in size to maximize the ratio of surface area to volume

The smaller the cell is , the higher the ratio would be.

Higher ratio will allow more molecule and ions to move across the cell membrane. Feature of smaller Cells make them able to get the nutrients in and wastage out.

Due to which cells are limited in size.
