You are trying to solve for k (get k by itself)

-5k - 19 = 5 - 13k Add 19 on both sides

-5k - 19 + 19 = 5 - 13k + 19

-5k = 24 - 13k Add 13k on both sides

-5k + 13k = 24 - 13k + 13k

8k = 24 Divide 8 on both sides

k = 3

Answer:

k=3

Explanation:

you move -13k to the right by adding it to the -5k to make 8k

next you move the "-19" by adding it to the 5 in the right side

now you have 8k=24

you divide the 24 by the eight and get k=3

Hope this helped! =3
