Why doesn’t any one type of living thing take over the world? Why?

I’m gonna give it a try, but maybe because...
Any living thing have a food chain or depend on some other living things to provide things they need to survive. Let’s say a mushroom for example. Although they’re the producer(I believe) they still depend on dead organism for nutrients.
