find area of separate rectangles

left most rectangle is
8x^2 * 2x^2 = 16x^4

second from left
6x^2 * 2x^2 = 12x^4

third from left
4x^2 * 2x^2 = 8x^4

last one
2x^2 * 2x^2 = 4x^4

16x^4 + 12x^4 + 8x^4 + 4x^4 = 40x^4

area is 40x^4

Please help me... find the area of this shape
