Answer:

x = 8, y = 4

Explanation:

y = x - 4

y = -0.5x + 8

y = y

x - 4 = -0.5x + 8

x + 0.5x = 8 + 4

1.5x = 12

x = 12/1.5

x = 8

To get "y" substitute the 8 for the "x" value in any of the two equations (they will both give the same answer.)

y = (8) - 4

y = 4

OR

y = -4 + 8

y = 4
