How can a slope be a single number

Answer: Slopes can be whole numbers or fractions and either positive or negative

difference of y

--------------------- = slope

difference of x


but sometimes the difference of x is 1 so we'd wrote it like 3/1 but we know from earlier make 3/1 can be written as just 3, a single number even though its really 3/1.
