21 bowls total because for each gallon, 3 bowls are needed so 3 bowls times 7 gallons is 21 bowls.

Amount of milk Allie has = 7 gallons

1 bowl is filled with =
(1)/(3) of a gallon

Let the number of bowls required be = x

(1)/(3) gallon is used to fill = 1 bowl

1 gallon is used to fill =
(1)/((1)/(3)) bowls = 3 bowls

7 gallons are used to fill =
3*7=21 bowls
