Dr. Chen's patient has suffered a tragedy, is severely depressed, and reports suicidal thoughts. The patient has been unresponsive to drug therapy. Dr. Chen plans to recommend psychosurgery. Is Dr. Chen's treatment plan likely the best one for the patient?

Hello!

Dr. Chen's treatment plan is not likely the best plan for this patient.

This type of treatment would commonly be making the patients condition worse. A proper treatment for this patient would be to do basic mind to speech therapy and anti-depressants.

I hope I helped you out!

Have a nice day and Happy Halloween!

Answer:

C - No. Use of new antipsychotic medications should be considered, as psychosurgery has been largely abandoned as a treatment.
