if you are writing an essay about famous people, which reference would best find a synonym for the noun misanthrope, which you've used too often?

The word "misanthrope" refers to a person who dislike humankind and avoids human society. It is the antonymus of the world "philanthropist" which means someone who makes an active effort to promote human welfare.

If, during an essay, the word has been repeated too many times, one may resort to a thesaurus, a corpus or a synonyms dictionary to find different options to replace it.
