A Western European capitalist country would have been most likely to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), also called the North Atlantic Alliance which is an intergovernmental military alliance. It was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the Soviet Union. That's why the NATO independent member states agreed to a system of collective defence in response to any external attack.
