The women's rights movement and suffrage were given a boost by the Civil War. Why is this true? It showed people that women could accomplish a lot of things away from home. Many women were elevated into the political roles of politics in the Federal government. Too many men had died in the war, which left many vacant employment positions. More available women voters were allowed at the polls during all elections.
