Maybe a scary experience you've experienced before, or make up some characters about them maybe being home alone one night and then end up looking out the window to find some crazy psycho killer on the loose! Or you could write about these kids that decided to discover this abandon house and how they never made it back out. or about this couple who moves into a house and starts noticing their daughter acting weird and talking to herself at night.
