Renee is in charge of the school carnival for 380 students. She has 47 boxes of prizes. Each box has 22 prizes. She wants to make sure she has enough prizes for each student to win 2 prizes. Does Renee have enough prizes? Explain how you solved your problem.

47 times 22 = 1034

1034/2 = 517

380 is less than 517 so Renee has more than enough for each student.

There are 380 students, and Renee wants to make sure that she has enough prizes for each student to win 2 prizes.

Then she needs at least 2*380 = 760 prizes.

We know that she has 47 boxes whit 22 prizes each, then the total number of prizes that she has is:

47*22 = 1034

Then she has more prizes than the 760 needed, so she has enough prizes.
