Listing items in the order that may occur throughout a day is an example of a log. The dictionary defines log as “any of various records, made in rough or finished form,concerning a trip made by a ship or aircraft and dealing withparticulars of navigation, weather, engine performance,discipline, and other pertinent details”
This same idea is also applied to computers to describe chronological records made by the computer system.
