Explanation:

Well first you transfer to improper fractions.

5/4 and 10/4

Next you add the two improper fractions

5/4 + 10/4 = 15/4

The highest you can multiply is 4 by 3.

Which is 12.

So your answer is 3 3/4.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

3 3/4

Explanation:

In, word problems like this one you really wanna make sure you look for key words on how you wanna do the problem. In this question they are asking how many miles she walked in two days. They told you that she walked, 1 1/4 miles on the first day. They also told you that she walked, 2 2/4 miles on the second day.

Now all you have to do is add them.

First add the whole numbers,

1 + 2 = 3

Now, add the fractions,

1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4

Finally add,

3 + 3/4

= 3 3/4

Hope this helps :-)
