Our chemo receptors are mostly for tasting while other animals use them for- sensing danger and finding mates.
Examples of sensing danger:
Certain fish species like Cichlids release a type of pheromone that alerts other fish of the danger around them or a cat becomes alert and flees away when it smells a dog. Example of finding mates is that many animals release sex pheromones to attract a mate.
