Why was socialism appealing to urban workers? It gave them the opportunity to learn more skills. It provided them with a chance to move out of the cities and stop work in factories Its goal was to give them control of the means of production.

Its goal was to give them control of the means of production is the correct answer.

Socialism as an ideology believe in the rule of proletariat or working class which would be fallowed by communism i.e stateless society. Karl Marx the founder of socialist ideology was of the opinion that means of production and surplus of production controlled by the bourgeois belong to working class as it is the workers who are the producers of commodities and thus should be controlled by them. He believed that sweat of workers goes into the pockets of rich and thus wanted that the means of production should be controlled by them.
