To get rid of the parantheses we must multiply -4 times anything inside the parantheses.

-4(7x+5)=-160

-28x-20=-160

Add 20 to both sides of the equation.

-28x-20=-160

-28x=-140

Divide both sides by -28

-28x/-28=-140/-28

x=5

Our final answer is 5

Hope this helps!
