Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast of plant cells. Thylakoid is a membrane-bound compartment in the chloroplast, which is the site of the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis.

The light dependent reaction of photosynthesis takes place in the thylakoid membrane of the the organelles called chloroplast.

The light dependent reaction uses light energy( sunlight) to make molecules required for the process of photosynthesis. Out of two one is ATP molecule and the other one is NADPH.

These two molecules along with carbon dioxide and water starts the process of photosynthesis.
