On the western front during World War II, British and US forces began their push toward Berlin with the invasion of Normandy.

On June 6, 1944 the Allies began its attack on the western front, defeating the German troops, pushing them back and liberating France. This day is also called D-day.

Meanwhile, the Soviet Union was pushing from the eastern front, and an earlier attack started in the south of Italy was liberating this land from German troops as well.
