So the outside environment is hypertonic compared to inside environment. Osmosis is the process by which water flows from the region of low solute concentration to region of high solute concentration. Since here solute concentration is higher outside, water will flow from inside the cell to the outside. Water content inside the cell will start to decrease which will lead to shrinkage of cytoplasm. The cytoplasm will eventually draw away from the cell wall.
