What kind of lasting effects did the Spanish-American war have on the United States

It marked a change from imperialism to isolationism. There was need for a navy that could cover two oceans.

There was a need for a navy to defend the new territories. And the isolationism makes sense because we got what we wanted, but it may not be that. The last one is wrong because we destroyed mexico in that war.
