2x - 6 = 3x + 1 - x - 7

2x = 2x + 1 - 7 + 6

2x = 2x

This is an identity so there are Infinite number of solutions.

2x-6=3x+1-x-7

Simplify the right side by combining like terms:

2X - 6 = 2X - 6

Because both sides of the equation are the same any value of X will make this true.
