Read the following selection from Act II of Romeo and Juliet. What does the word in bold most likely mean?

JULIET
How camest thou hither, tell me, and wherefore?
The orchard walls are high and hard to climb,
And the place death, considering who thou art,
If any of my kinsmen find thee here.

Came is your best answer

"camest" is an old english-like word that really means "came".

In the sentence "How camest thou hither...", it means "How did you come" {past tense}

hope this helps
