Why can exposure to an Ultra-violet light and x-rays cause cancer but a visible light and a infra-red light don't

Ultraviolet light has very much shorter wavelengths than visible light. UV waves are invisible to the naked eye, but insects such as bumblebees can see them. UV-B rays are the harmful rays that cause sunburn and damage to skin. Exposure to UV-B rays increases cellular damage in living organism
